Lancing Parish Council

Lancing Parish Council was set up in 1894. It covers the area between Shoreham-by-sea and Worthing from Western Road (adjacent to Brooklands) and Sompting in the west through to the River Adur in the east. It stretches from the beach and coast inland to include part of the South Downs.

Notice is hereby given that you are required to attend the meeting of the Amenities & Environment Committee which will be held on Wednesday 9th November 2011 in the Council Chamber, Parish Hall, South Street at 7.30 p.m.

 

AGENDA

Members are reminded to make any declarations of personal and/or prejudicial interest that they may have in relation to items on this agenda.

 

Notice should be given at this part of the meeting of any intended declaration. The nature of the interest should then be declared later at the commencement of the item or when the interest becomes apparent.

 

4          Minutes of the Previous Meeting held on 12th October 2011.

 

The Minutes of this meeting were due to be confirmed at Full Council on 2nd November 2011. Copies of those minutes were attached to the Full Council Meeting of the same date.

6          Issues Relating to Outdoor Facilities.

 

6.1       Councillor Steve Martin Report

 

A report on his recent visit to Sutton where a range of community projects have been undertaken.

 

6.2       Jubilee Celebrations and Carnival June 2012

 

Members will be aware that there is a Bank Holiday on Monday June 4th 2012 to celebrate The Queens’ Diamond Jubilee.

 

Members might consider running the two events together as both are scheduled to take place on Beach Green in June 2012.

 

There is a proposal to hire or buy braid lighting for the Christmas decorations in South St and North Road next month. According to arrangements these might be available to decorate lampposts in Brighton Road and the Kiosk at Beach Green.

 

6.3       Adult Keep Fit equipment on Beach Green

 

It is proposed that sponsors should be sought to help with the purchase and installation of Adult Keep Fit equipment on Beach Green.

 

6.4       Public Art

 

The contract to make and install the art metal works on Beach Green is ready to be signed and should be installed around February 2012 and therefore be ready for the Jubilee and Carnival celebrations in June 2012.

 

7          Correspondence Received.

 

Friends of Lancing Ring Autumn Newsletter and Minutes of Committee Meeting 20th Sep 2011. Copies available.

 

8          Clerks Report(s).

 

8.1       The Clerk has sought a quotation for the removal of the seats and partitions in the Bandstand thereby creating a more open and safer environment.

            The Deputy Parish Clerk will update Committee as necessary.
