New Information and Advice Outreach Service for Disabled People

West Sussex Association for Disabled People (WSAD) has started a new outreach service to support & empower people with disabilities through provision of accurate, useful, timely information and advice.  The aim is to provide that information and advice at a time, location, and format convenient to the enquirer.

WSAD will provide information on services and facilities throughout West Sussex to people with disabilities or to people who support them; by face-to-face meeting, by telephone, written correspondence or computer links. A telephone and personal enquiry service will be available at our accessible premises in Goring, from 10am-4pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. There will also be the option to request appointments for home visits, or at an alternative independent venue or meeting place according to enquirer’s preference. The outreach service will work closely with other agencies in the county to provide information and have access to a comprehensive database of resources developed and tailored for their use by ICIS. In the event that further assistance is required to work through any issues raised, enquirers will be signposted to the most appropriate agencies for ongoing support.

Three outreach workers will cover all parts of the county; executive officer Roland Higgins said “In particular we look forward to bring this information to people who previously have felt isolated and found it very hard to get disability information”.
